What would it take to get a new college football team?

Okay, I'm happy of the Bears this year. They are totally gonna make it to the superbowl. But lets look at the other side of things though. In recent times Illinois college football sucks! Illinois is horrible, and Northwestern is even worse. I believe Northern is doing okay, but you really don't find too many people passionate about that school, and they are not in best conference either. Southern nothing special there either. And U of C, football?

So how hard would it be to start a football program at a Chicago University? Albeit if it was a worthy one as well. Because if they are going to be just as bad as the rest don't bother, but honestly Illinois needs a great football team and Northwestern is just not doing it anymore. So does anybody have anymore information on how it would work? Also if you had a choice which university would you pick the program to go to?

Maybe biased here but I think DePaul is the best bet, since it is now in the Big East Conference it would get more attention. Also there seems to be more pride in the school as well. Also their basketball team seems very promising this year, and I have read that as the season goes on it will probably break in to the top 25. I also think that alumni, and the students would really like the idea.

Realistically UIC has the best bet (better funding), but it is in a very uninteresting conference (horizon leauge i believe). I think it would need to get into a good conference for it to really flourish. Other than the Big East and the Big Ten (I don't think they would ever take UIC) there really is no other good conference here in the Midwest that they could get into. Also, there doesn't seem to be as much pride in the school from students as their is in DePaul, so support would most likely be less.

Loyola being in the same conference as UIC is now. I honestly could not seem them getting a football program. It would be good though for the school as it would allow much more attention to the school if it was a good team. Loyola is EXTREMELY UNDERRATED. More people know more about DePaul and UIC than they do of Loyola. Same thing applies that they would need to get into a good conference.

IIT would never happen.

Chicago State eh.

Much thanks to the Big East conference, DePaul already has the advantage of being in a good conference (not as much for football, but the Big East does have 3 football teams in the 25). DePaul also is very good at Marketing itself and sure knows how to put its name out there. This basketall season will most likely help DePaul out too. Funding is the shortcoming I see as well as recruiting. UIC is more realistic though.

Its just a dream though, which most likely will never happen. Starting a football program from scratch is hard! Oh well so what do you all think? Thought it would be a fun poll.>
