Welcome hydrogen as mod

Hey everyone, I'd like you to all welcome a familiar face around here, hydrogen as a moderator.

He's been appointed to help us out with the North American forums, focusing on the US forums but he'll also lend his services over here in working with Steely Dan on the Chicago forum as well.>

Carson Pirie Scott State St. Closing

Quote:>
Carson Pirie Scott will close its historic flagship store on State Street in the Loop, where it has been selling goods for more than a century, a victim of industry consolidation and changing shopping habits.....

Bon-Ton Stores Inc., the department store operator that took over Carsons in March, said the giant store, which encompasses an entire downtown block and consists of nine conjoined buildings, was too expensive to operate. It doesn't make money and sales have been falling for the past two years, said Bud Bergren, president and CEO of the York, Pa.-based company....
>The greedheads will make noise about the big box ordiance but in short the revenue from the store was not enough given the land valuation. I presume they'll leave the facade inplace and gut the interior and mechanical systems.>

Chicago's party schools?

All these topics of schools has me wondering. From what you have heard or experienced what do you feel is the biggest party high school, and the biggest party college in the Chicago metro?

For high school, hands down Lane Tech. When I went there, there was always a party on Friday and Saturday, if not a few for each day, and daytimes on half day Thursdays were very common. We would leave daytimes at like 4pm drunk, and these daytimes were huge too. There would be like 50 people usually. Now that I think about, where were all these kids parents?

For College, that's a tough one. Chicago colleges aren't really known for party schools. From what I have seen and heard it seems like DePaul. Too bad Chicago does not allow on campus frat and sorority houses. Then again we really don't need more drunk people out on our streets.>
