Performing Arts Center??

here's a discussion that I don't believe has ever come up here or, quite frankly, has there really been much discussion about it in the city:

WILL CHICAGO EVER HAVE A DOWNTOWN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER? (including at least 3 major theates and an attractive complex with landscaped plaza)

I'm talking about something along the line of Lincoln Center (NY), Kennedy Center (DC), Music Center (LA)?

Now Chicago has outstanding music venues (Auditorium, Civic Opera, Symhony Center, new facilities at Mil Pk, etc.), so the question is: why is this needed? From that perspective, NY has excellent facilities like Carneige Hall that are not part of Lincoln Center. Building such a complex does not eliminate existing structures as much as enhancing them. A centralized facility does a great job in promoting the performing arts.

I would hardly expect anything to happen on this in the near future, but do you folks on the forum think it will happen? if so when? where would you place it? any other thoughts out there or any awareness if the powers-that-be might, on some level, be thinking about something like this?>
