question about the lifting of chicago in the 1850's

i am surprised that i can't seem to find any photographic evidence - scarce even any drawings or paintings - of this most astonishing feat of nineteenth century engineering. i have tried an extensive googling of the subject, but to very little avail: the best i could come up with was the image on page 126 of this pdf. how utterly miserable; there must be better than that! could anybody help me by pointing out a good place to look? i wish i could see a search facility at this site;-)>
