Chicago & the new Midwestern nation

"Has America gotten too big?" asks a thread on the US board? Withitcomes suggestions that the US might be better served democratically and administratively if it were broken into a series of smaller nations. What if one of those nations were the Middle West. How would Chicago fare, both pro and con, in the new nation of Midamerica? Note: for the sake of argument, let's include OH, MI, IN, IL, WI, MN, IA, MO, KY.>
