World's fairs of yore promoted their cities; today their history. A city can get some promotion from a Super Bowl, Final 4, the Dem or GOP national conventions. But not as much as we'd like to think. The Olympics seem to be the best venue for putting a city front stage. It's clearly what Daley would like to see. So let's image we had an event like th Olympics that truly promoted Chicago world wide. Wiped out all the ridiculous stereotypes. What would happen? Bascially I'm asking you this: if the world saw Chicago the way we see it on this board (and get upset when those who have never been here get a ridiculously false view of the city's greatness), HOW WOULD CHICAGO CHANGE? What would the post-promotional Chicago look like if the country (and the world) out there actually started to think "Chicago: WOW!!!"????> |
