This part focuses on Avondale (highlighted in red), Logan Sqaure (in yellow) and Wicker Park-Bucktown (in green).

Avondale

Belmont Blue Line Station

The next group of photos is of the old Florshiem Shoe Factory, part of which
is being converted to lofts, while the other part will be demolished for a
funcking shopping center. The section to be saved:

And this one will be demolished:

There's a whole section of Grace Street were the buildings are suffering from severe setteling:

A friend lives in this building. Her apartment has the original clawfoot cast-iron bathtub.

Logan Square, which is really a 'circle', is part of the Boulivard System.
It was laid out by private developers who constructed elegant wide carriage drives linking all of the major inland parks.

It looks amazing in the summertime, so lush and green.

In the center of Logan Sqaure is the Illinois Centennial monument, celibrating the 100 year aniversery of Illinois incorperating as a state in 1818.

The developers of this era lined the Blvds with some great stuff:

This is Palmer Square, where the blvd system shifts 1/4 mile east. Palmer Sqaure Park sits in the middle of the street:

yup, its that wide, and a 1/4 mile long.

Some buildings fronting Palmer Square

Side Streets:

Another great old school

The middle guy looks a little crowded.

Wicker Park-Bucktown
These two are grouped, because they are essentially the same area. Bucktown refers to the northern half of Wicker Park, and gets its name from all of the goats that used to graze in the yards of immigrant's houses.

We'll start in the grittier east side of the hood...

under the Kennedy

Garage for a shitty new big-box center. Its open now.

Moving westward now into the residential area...
