No love for the South Side?

I see people on message board asking about Chicago, asking where to visit or where to move to in the city. 95%+ of the responses are move to Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Lakeview. What about the South Loop, Bridgeport, Hyde Park, Beverly. I mean, is there really something wrong with the Southside or are people just naive?>
